Writing POETRY ON ICE Poetry on a photographer’s website? Why not? Many photographers I’ve known are guitar  players, singers, web designers, even writers - and I’m  sure there are more than a few who have written poetry.  So if you’ve played the game or you’re a fan, here’s a  collection of verse celebrating the game from the young  to the old - who think their still kids! Here’s a sample:  My Mom had a rule and she made it plain, In a way that I understood; “If you want to play hockey young son of mine, You’d better bring in the wood.”   You know what that means don’t you? It meant splitting wood for the wood stove that heated our house.  Sometimes in the dark, maybe at 20 below zero with a flashlight because I didn’t do it when I should  have. But I did it anyway, ‘cause chores came first - that was a given! And that’s how much I loved the  game. Poetry On Ice is about growing up. About open air rinks, fancy arenas, and dangerous lakes. If you  want to give it a shot you get 37 poems for ten bucks. These days you can hardly buy a hockey puck for that! Just give me a shout at 250 992 6432 or 250 992 8578, or e-mail me at gmperry@shaw.ca, and we’ll  make whatever arrangements are needed to get it to you pronto. Gord Perry
